What got you into the OHA?

Well I tell everybody I had to create a league just to play in one because I’m so bad. But in reality, the story is different.

In the beginning of the Online Hockey Association there were a core group of people that played together in a fake league run by one Sw33tA55 called the Sweetass Hockey League.

Having never personally played in one of the more established leagues, I had no idea it was even a thing when I started to discuss starting our own with BaseWater2391, Nunes25 and SullyDog617 way into the early morning hours. We were excited with the prospect of creating a place for everyone to be able to play fun, competitive hockey, and keep some decent stats at the same time. The Sweetass Hockey League only kept track of stars for some bogus prizes at the end of the week. And it was strictly drop-in/lobbies where games were run from, not a real structured league.

And drop-ins (we don’t have to tell you) were a playground for trolls.

After looking around and brainstorming names, I finally settled on the Online Hockey Association, because we really wanted to create something unique, and community-focused.

And the word league showed up in every other league’s name at that point in time, so association, I thought, would set us apart in a way.

Long story short: I got into the OHA by creating it.

How many seasons have you played?

Well obviously I’ve been around since before the OHA really started. And it would be difficult for some of the older members to tell you how many seasons they’ve played since the current legacy stats only record our days on Xbox One. We’re on our 11th season on Xbox One, but we ran many seasons on the 360, a few tournaments and had an AHL for one of them. So we’re probably really on Season 17 or 18 of actual seasons.

To answer the question though, In the beginning I played every season, but as time went on I have only really played if we needed a team to make an even number for scheduling purposes.

Cups/Awards/Big Moments

A lot. I’m most likely the best player in the OHA (probably the best in EASHL as a whole) but since I can’t win Awards, you’d never know it.

Best Player in OHA History?

This is a hard one to answer because I’ve seen thousands of players come and go over the years. And some players are outstanding for one or two seasons, and then either don’t come back or that was all they had. I won’t be choosing any of the more recent additions because the OHA has been around for a long time and anyone who’s just joined in the last 2 or 3 seasons shouldn’t be considered yet.

If I had to pick one player over the entire lifetime of the OHA I’d have to say diabloikal based on a variety of aspects.

As a defenseman in the OHA, diabloikal was one of the most reliable and consistent players we’ve ever had, and his stats were always positive.

What got you into the OHA?

A long time ago when I first got into EASHL, I met Chewdatgrizz09 by some odd luck in a drop in I think (I actually forget the circumstances of how we started playing). We started playing NHL literally every night, usually 2s with compys and we would switch on and off from goalie. We came across some other people and ended up running full 6s eventually. We both heard about leagues and stuff but never really dove too far into it. Well one day, Chew met Homiezoned and Homie had Chew join OHA to play. One night when I asked to play 6s with chew he was like "I can't tonight I have to play in a league game" (Big Sad). I asked him about it and one thing led to the next and then I was on the team "OHA Arizona" for my first league and first season. I guess you could say it was a combination of Chew and Homiezoned that got me into OHA.

How many seasons have you played?

I lost track at this point but probably about 8.

Cups/Awards/Big Moments

Stiffest Sticks is the best 2nd place finisher in the OHA history, change my mind. Awards, I think I got a couple like the basewater award and a couple other personality/dedication ones. Never any talent ones though because my thumbs are made of stone.

Big moments, there are actually lots. Not for me personally, but OHA moments. Like the one season where Homiezoned was determined to try to be on every single team in one season (He either succeeded or almost succeeded). A chat "line brawl" if you will. One of the seasons I think it was Team Cancel (Mathesons squad) and Deathproof's (At the time I believe Yummierscarab was the owner) squad ended up getting into a big chirping match. This was back in the days of GroupMe (yikes). Well, we had a managers chat but no "league chat" where all the members were a part of, just individual team GroupMe's. Matheson and Scarab, I think it was, which would go at it regularly, decided to go a round. Things started escalating and each side was calling out people on the other team. Both managers then proceeded to add the people being called out into the manager chat. By the time it was said and done I think there was probably half of the team in there, including Zacha, which anyone who knows him knows he can get under someones skin pretty easily lol. There were plenty of fun "big" moments in OHA that i'll remember for a long time.

Best player in OHA history?

Although you will hear Mike x Scott mutter frequently "I'm the greatest", I wouldn't deem him the best player in OHA history lol (sorry Mike). For me, it's really hard to pick one best player in OHA history because we did have a good chunk of people that came in and out. There's an argument for Carter because he had the hot hands for a while and I believe still leads the OHA in goals or points, or both. For me though, like Tiarmach, I've seen lots of players come and go since I've been playing OHA so I really can't pick just one player.

What got you into the OHA

Was one of the first handful of guys to join the original effort back on 360. Had been playing in another drop-in league, when that went sideways Tiarmach and Base started this and absorbed most of those players.

How many seasons have you played?

Not sure, have had a few different streaks, played the first however many seasons before next gen, shifted to ps4 but still played 2-3 seasons during that time and then came back to Xbox 2 yrs ago and have played in every season since doing so

Can’t remember if I’ve been given any awards, maybe a league commitment type if thing. I usually don’t end up playing enough at one position to qualify.

Best player in OHA history?

Carter or Bolden, that I've witnessed or can remember

What's the best part about social distancing?

Besides working a later shift, nothing has changed in my day-to-day, knock on wood. Gamers have been doing this for years tho and I hate being around the general public, haha

What got you into the OHA?

I joined OHA a long time ago. Just wanted to play with buddies and see how league play was. I played competitive leagues for ghost recon back in the day. So I just wanted to see how it was ran on sports side.

How many seasons have you played?

I don't remember what season I came over but it was very early (Seasons 1-7 & 10-11)

Cups/Awards/Big Moments

Made it to finals and came up short. We have won presidents cups. I have won gm of the year.

Best player in OHA history?

This is a tough one. But deathproof had a very good team awhile back. Carter 17 was always a pain in the ass to play against. Its hard to narrow it down though with all the players that have come and gone.

Whats the best part about social distancing?

The best part about social distancing is people being able to focus on family and not material things on this world.

What got you into the OHA?

I have been playing leagues for the last couple of years. “I know I got started later than most”. But after I met Tiarmach in a 3’s league I helped run, I found out about this league and really liked the idea of playing with friends without being drafted. So I decided to join when OHA added 3HA, 3 Seasons ago. I have now left all other leagues and started my commissioner role in this league.

How many seasons have you played?

This will be my 2 Season in OHA, 3rd Season in 3HA.

Cups/Awards/Big Moments

Nothing yet, I consider myself an average player. But maybe someday I can step up and win an award. But for now I will just continue to pass/score/hit and see what happens.

Best player in OHA history?

Unfortunately I can’t answer this question. This is my second season in OHA, and due to the recent changes to our website I can’t look at all time stats at this time. ThistleAndWeeds

What's the best part about social distancing?

I don’t think you even need me to answer to know what I think the best part is, but I will anyways. GAMING as much as I want
