OHA

The second week of play in the OHA has officially come and gone. The have and have-nots are clear to see as the standings begin to take shape. How does your team stack up heading at the midway point of the season?

3 Stars of the Week:

Andshad (1.89 GAA / .879 SV% / 7 W)

Broomball16 (15G / 42P)

Fedxrov (26G / 45P)

Power Surge: Blueberry Faygo

Power Outage: Bleacher Bums

Electrifying Player of the Week: Gritty 16

(27 G / 37/ 6 GP/ 6.17 PPG)

Gritty is leading the league in goals (again) and has the best points-per-game in the entire league. Although he plays infrequently, his stats certainly don’t show it and Gritty is proving to be one of the most prolific goal scorers in OHA history.

“The Power Grid”

The Curse Reborn (Prev: 1)

The Curse continued their winning ways with an absolutely dominant run, losing just once in the first twenty games. aPsychotik has been putting in work on an already stacked team and could be a dark horse for league MVP.

Ontario Hitmen (Prev: 2)

Ontario weren’t nearly as dominant as the first team in the standings but also not far off. It’s entirely possible that the two OTL they’ve recorded were flukes (Fun Fact: The Fluke is the most common fish you can catch!), but all in all a solid week for a contender.

Team Cancel (Prev: 3)

In previous power rankings it was said that if any form of the previous Cancel teams returned it would likely be bad news for the rest of the league...well, don’t look now.

Evil Empire (Prev: 4)

Empire and Cancel are actually tied in the standings but Cancel’s performance has been just a little cleaner thus far, so Empire lands at the four spot this week. However, make no mistake Empire is absolutely a top three team and could jostle with the three spot all season long.

Puck Ups (Prev: 5)

The Puck Up are as middle of the pack as they come and while they aren’t the best, they are certainly nowhere near the worst. The fifth seed seems to be a perfect fit for this team and they should be a strong contender for the rest of the regular season.

Blueberry Faygo (Prev: 11)

Faygo had a great week that saw them go 8-2-0 to skyrocket up the standings (and the power rankings). While it’s too early to call them a contender just yet, another strong week will force them into the conversation of true contender status.

Puck Daddies HC (Prev: 7)

After bolstering their lineup this week the PD seem to be headed in the right direction, picking up points  in seven games. A little more consistency is needed before contender status is applied, however they have looked solid at times and require just a little more attention to detail to succeed.

Red Deer Bandits (Prev: 6)

A poor week has knocked a previous top contender down the ladder some, but it’s entirely possible this is little more than a blip on the radar. Still, it’s concerning that at the start of week three Red Deer are negative, so consider them a wild card until further notice.

Toxic Hockey (Prev: 9)

Toxic are right where they belong in the standings and in the power rankings as well. They could very well be a dark horse team to make playoffs if they play a bit better down the stretch. Overall though not a bad season so far.

Forfeit Kings (Prev: 10)

The Kings have struggled and the light at the end of the tunnel is pretty dim, unless this team overhauls by the end of the week it’s hard to imagine them doing much down the stretch. However, stranger things have happened! #GetDankedBud4Vezina

Berlin Mafia (Prev: 12)

While Berlin is still likely the worst team in reality, they currently sit at a three-way tie for wins and had a better than expected week. Still, don’t expect too much out of this team as playoffs seem like a pipe dream.

Bleacher Bums (Prev: 8)

While in actuality not the worst team, they did have the worst week by far with a record of 1-7-2. They lack any semblance of consistency and will need to be better all-around down the stretch. If playoffs are a pipe dream for Mafia then they’re a pipe nightmare for the Bums.
